There were many reasons for Manchester United fans to stay up to watch Scotland’s 2026 World Cup encounter against Brazil.
Not only was it a game with a lot at stake, but United forward Matheus Cunha started for Brazil and Tyler Fletcher was named on the bench for Scotland.

In doing so, Fletcher was named on the bench against Brazil, but he still shared a moment with Cunha on the pitch before kick-off.
Cunha took a moment to hug the United youngster in what was a gesture that will be appreciated at Old Trafford.
Brazil were less mindful of Scotland’s feelings once the match kicked off. They recorded a convincing 3-0 win to ensure they top their group ahead of the knockout phase.

No World Cup appearance in group stages for Tyler Fletcher
Scotland manager Steve Clarke made just three substitutions against Brazil.
That meant Fletcher didn’t get any minutes, but the experience of being part of the Scotland squad is still something he can benefit from as an emerging professional in the game.
Fletcher is likely to get opportunities to impress Michael Carrick and his coaching staff when he returns to United for pre-season training later this summer.
