Chido Obi will be targeting a breakthrough season at Manchester United in 2025/26 after a promising debut campaign.
There has been plenty of excitement around the 17-year-old striker ever since he was poached from Arsenal last summer.
Manchester United promised Chido Obi a first-team pathway when he was signed last summer, and the Red Devils stayed true to their word.
Having made eight senior appearances last season, Obi has been handed a new shirt number to reflect his importance in the first-team squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
Obi starred in United’s post-season tour, scoring a brace against Hong Kong to turn the match around. Now, he is building up for a new season.

Chido Obi has transformed this summer
Ruben Amorim praised Obi last season, and clearly he believes in his potential to become a superstar at Old Trafford.
But frequently, Amorim spoke about wanting more physicality in his side after seeing United bullied by too many teams last season. That certainly applies to his striker, who is tasked with holding up the ball against towering defenders.
According to The Athletic, it has been “noted” at Carrington that Chido Obi has physically transformed this summer, adding more “bulk” to his 6ft 2in frame.
Obi has shared training videos over the summer via his Instagram, where it is clear he has been working hard to be ready for the new season.
The teenage striker returned to Carrington last week to join up with Amorim’s squad for pre-season training, where he will aim to impress.
Chido Obi could change Ineos transfer plans over pre-season
Heading into the summer, it was no secret that United would be shopping for a new centre-forward after a disappointing campaign from Rasmus Hojlund.
However, the Red Devils have already missed out on two top targets with Liam Delap snubbing United for Chelsea and Viktor Gyokeres close to joining Arsenal.
Now, Ineos are being forced to widen their search and United have been linked to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Nicolas Jackson.
But Obi has a chance to shine in United’s pre-season tour of the United States, and a strong showing this summer could convince Amorim and Ineos that he is ready for more regular first-team football.
It seems as though Hojlund might be staying put, and United could head into the new season with a strike force of the two Danish stars.
