Manchester United ran out 1-0 victors against Copenhagen yesterday, but credit where credits due – the Danish supporters provided a respectful, touching tribute to the late Sir Bobby Charlton.
A goal from Harry Maguire and a dramatic last-minute penalty save from Andre Onana were enough to give the Red Devils a much-needed three points in Europe.
Copenhagen fought valiantly in Manchester. They so nearly walked away with a point, on a night that was dedicated to Manchester United legend – Sir Bobby Charlton.
The Danish fans went above and beyond to honour the great man.

How Copenhagen fans paid tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton
The Copenhagen fans were absolutely ace.
Just before kick-off, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, Manchester United goalkeeping legend Alex Stepney and youth captain Dan Gore walked out onto the pitch with a wreath to commemorate Bobby’s life.
The away fans were deadly silent – along with Old Trafford throughout this. This carried on into the minute silence afterwards.
There was then a chorus of ‘There’s only one Bobby Charlton’ ringing around Old Trafford, to which the Copenhagen fans sang along and put their flags up in solitude.
But it was the homemade banner that the Danish fans brought that truly touched the hearts of many United fans.
‘Passion is what separates the good from the great. Rest in peace Sir Bobby Charlton,’ it read.
A classy club
Copenhagen well and truly earned the respect of Manchester United fans last night.
The Danes have always had good ties to the club and they showed what kind, empathetic people they are last night by going above and beyond.
We sincerely hope our fans show the same amount of respect they showed us in their beautiful city during the away leg.
