Alvaro Morata is one of Manchester United’s options to sign a striker in the January transfer window; claim ESPN.
The Spaniard had history with United, coming close to signing for the club in 2017, before a deal was done for Romelu Lukaku instead, and he ended up signing with Chelsea.
Morata is currently at Atletico Madrid, and recently led the line for Spain at the World Cup, where he scored three goals and provided one assist in four games.
Spain were eliminated in the last 16 by surprise package Morocco, who beat them on penalties.

What Alvaro Morata said about Manchester United
This is not the first time in 2022 that Manchester United’s interest in Morata has arisen. He was linked to the club in August.
But Morata was less than enthused, and was quoted by The Mirror stating he was paying little attention, purely focused on his role at Atletico Madrid.
Morata said: “I really want to play here, work and play in many competitions. I’m excited to be here, as always, I can only work and run for the team in every game.
“Speculation over my future? It’s what comes out in the press, I just wanted to work and work, Atletico are one of the best clubs in the world, if there’s a market I can’t do anything, just work, I’m happy here and I want to continue working.”
Alvaro Morata’s form this season
Morata has scored five goals in 12 La Liga starts, plus two substitute appearances. He failed to score in five Champions League appearances.
Diego Simeone’s reliance on Morata is part of the reason why they are willing to allow other forwards to leave, namely Joao Felix and Matheus Cunha.
With that in mind it would be somewhat surprising if Atletico were happy to let Morata leave in January.
Alvaro Morata’s contract
Morata, 30, is under contract at Atletico Madrid until June 2024.
