Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku might have woken up in a very bad mood over the weekend after learning of Inter Milan’s latest plans.
All summer Lukaku has been publicly flirting with Inter.
Amid claims United want £80 million for Lukaku [Times] it has been claimed Inter can’t afford him and need to sell to buy.
Now a report in France Football claims Inter have made a £50 million move for Nicolas Pepe.
Either Inter have come into some new money, have changed their priorities from a striker to a winger, or have just been stringing poor old Rom along.
It could be that Inter boss Antonio Conte has just given up on being able to afford Lukaku, and has switched attention to Pepe instead.
For what it’s worth, it’s claimed Inter’s offer is not quite enough to convince Lille to sell just yet. They are awaiting other offers.
United too have been linked with a move for Pepe [Mirror], with right wing a glaring weakness. But until the Aaron Wan-Bissaka move is complete, other transfers appear to be on hold.
So too could Lukaku’s exit from United. Inter are seen as his only real suitor. If they blow what money they have on Pepe, the Belgian could be staying at Old Trafford.
Put a brave face on it Rom. You can’t escape.
