Manchester United are under a bit of pressure this weekend when they take on Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday night.
Erik ten Hag’s side come into the game knowing they need a win. They haven’t recorded a victory since a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in August, and they have struggled recently.
The pressure on a big club is always accentuated and a few defeats at United means the club are currently in a full-blown disaster.
A win against Burnley on Saturday would certainly ease the pressure but three points are easier said than done.
Kompany on United’s struggles
The Belgian coach, who used to be Manchester City’s captain, believes that the Dutch manager is more than capable of dealing with the issues currently at Old Trafford.
“You always need time to adapt and improve – not just for Erik Ten Hag but all of us,” the Belgian told journalist Shamoon Hafez. “One thing this manager has demonstrated is that he is extremely capable. There is no doubting that.”
The praise for Ten Hag is certainly justified. The Dutch manager has had to deal with some rather tough situations.
Whether it’s the Cristiano Ronaldo situation, the Mason Greenwood situation, or the, rather public, fallout with Jadon Sancho – Ten Hag has certainly had issues to deal with.
Are United in a crisis
As mentioned, a loss or two, or three in a row, is always a crisis at any big club, never mind United.
As Kompany said: “When you are at a top club, you are always one loss away from a crisis, it doesn’t just have to be United.”
A loss against Burnley would be a disaster, but a win would certainly bring things back on track.
United need a win from somewhere and picking up a victory against a side who are one of the favourites to get relegated would be a much-needed boost for Ten Hag and the Red Devils.
