Victor Osimhen shares jaw-dropping trait with former Man United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester United are in desperate need of a star striker and Victor Osimhen is towards the top of Ineos’ shopping list.

There have been signs of improvement since Ruben Amorim’s appointment as head coach, but Manchester United have been let down so many times by poor finishing in front of goal.

On Sunday, United dropped another two points against Bournemouth with a 1-1 draw. If players took their chances, it could – and should – have been a comfortable win.

Reports claim United are closing in on a £30m Liam Delap deal with the Ipswich Town star’s relegation clause now active, but Amorim may want a more established and experienced striker to arrive.

United believe Victor Osimhen could be signed for £40m, or perhaps even less if Rasmus Hojlund is involved in a potential swap deal.

Victor Osimhen’s athleticism matches Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic quickly became a fan favourite at Old Trafford following his move as a free agent in 2016.

The Swedish star spent two seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 29 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has grown a reputation for scoring outrageous goals, using his impressive agility and flexibility. It seems Victor Osimhen has a very similar trait.

As pointed out by Le Marca, Osimhen is actually able to reach his leg even higher than Ibrahimovic after he showcased an incredible bit of control while playing for Galatasaray.

United fans have been blown away by Osimhen’s finishing, and his ruthlessness in the 18-yard box is exactly what Amorim has been crying out for.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic tried to sign Victor Osimhen but failed

After Ibrahimovic officially retired in 2023 at AC Milan, he joined the Italian club in a ‘senior advisor’ role.

A year later, Ibrahimovic was questioned by Sky Sports about the transfer business done by Milan over the summer.

Ibrahimovic all but confirmed that Milan had tried to poach Osimhen after it became clear that he was going to leave Napoli.

Instead, Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan. He is set to return to Napoli in the summer but the chances of him working his way back into Antonio Conte’s plans look extraordinarily slim.

Osimhen will be up for sale in the summer and it is up to Ineos to decide whether he will be the top target ahead of the likes of Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres.
