Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has taken to social media to apologise to the Sweden fans for failing to qualify for the World Cup.
On the same night that Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot booked their places at the Qatar tournament, Lindelof and Anthony Elanga suffered heartache.
The Swede’s lost 2-0 in Poland and they will have to take a watching brief for the winter tournament.

After reaching the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup before being beaten by Gareth Southgate’s England, Janne Andersson haven’t been able to qualify for the tournament due to take place in the Middle East.
Clearly taking a couple of days to come to terms with the agonising defeat, Lindelof, who was consoled at full-time by Robert Lewandowski, posted on Instagram today to sum up his emotions.
Despite the pain the Swedish captain will no doubt still be feeling, Lindelof and Elanga are going to have to switch their attentions to salvaging United’s season.
With Ralf Rangnick having a clean bill of health in the centre-back department, the German is going to have to decide who his pairing will be against Leicester City on Saturday.
When both fit, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane have been the go to first choice partnership, so it may mean that Lindelof has to settle for a place on the bench.

Elanga on the other hand will be hoping to secure a spot on one of the wings with him and Marcus Rashford likely competing for the same spot.
With nine games remaining, United have next to no margin in the race to finish fourth, as we trail fourth placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand, by four points.
