Even with the former Ajax boss at the helm, Manchester United look a complete and utter mess from top to bottom, and with Liverpool to come to Old Trafford in eight days time – things look likely to get worse before they get better.

With 18 days left until the transfer window closes, Ten Hag is in desperate need of quality and hard-working individuals who want to join Manchester United, and break their neck to restore the fallen giant back to its former glory.

Regardless of Cristiano Ronaldo‘s well-documented desire to leave and join a Champions League club this summer, Manchester United wanted and needed to bolster their forward options.

Ajax star Antony was Ten Hag’s top target but the Dutchman’s former side priced us out of a move for the Brazilian international this summer.

Edinson Cavani is yet to be replaced and Anthony Martial‘s injury ahead of the new season has left a 37-year-old Ronaldo as the former Ajax manager’s only senior out and out available striker.

Manchester United are pursuing PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo, as reported by The Telegraph.

A move for the Netherlands international would cost £35 million, although his availability so late into the transfer window could hinge on PSV’s upcoming Champions League qualifiers against Rangers.

The 23-year-old registered 36 goal involvements last season (21 goals and 15 assists) and the seven-time Netherlands international has already started the new campaign impressively.

Prior to PSV’s 5-2 win at Go Ahead Eagles yesterday, the man who has been mentored by former prolific Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy had produced three goals and two assists from four matches so far this season.

In the 5-2 win at Go Ahead, PSV’s number 11 provided an assist and also produced four key passes from just 18 touches, two of which were classified as big chances, as per SofaScore.

While Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho continue to flounder at the start of the season after an impressive and encouraging pre-season, Ten Hag may look to raid the Eredivisie once again and bring in Gakpo to bolster a Manchester United forward line whose only goal from two top-fight matches this season came courtesy of an Alex MacAllister own goal.

PSV travel to Ibrox for the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against Rangers on Tuesday, and Ten Hag will no doubt be keeping a close eye on how that tie develops with the potential availability of his talented compatriot on the line.
