United target Antony shares training video despite telling Ajax he won't return until August

Manchester United may have to be patient over Brazil winger Antony this summer, with Ajax demanding a staggering £69 million for his services.

The Times reports Antony is ‘determined’ to join United despite this price tag, which could be as much as £29 million over the price United were reported to be keen to pay, after The Sun linked the Red Devils with a £40 million offer.

De Telegraaf report Brazil international Antony is frustrated as he feels Ajax’s price tag is ‘disproportionate’.

So it was intriguing this week to see Ajax state Antony won’t be returning to pre-season training until August, as he recuperates from injury.

Antony shares training video

Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder had explained via ESPN: “Antony is recovering from his injury in Amsterdam. He is doing reasonably well, but the coming weeks are important. We hope that he will improve quickly. I assume that he will be fit again at the end of the preparation.”

Antony posted a video to his Instagram page yesterday, with a very impressive training video which saw him running in the gym and out on grass, where his ankle injury appears to be making a very good recovery.

Antony’s situation will be one to watch across the month of July and into August. Manchester United have a spot for him on the right wing, where he could play a key role.

Erik ten Hag signed him for Ajax and the Brazilian is reported to be keen to reunited with the manager at Old Trafford, Goal report.

If he is going to clinch a move to Old Trafford, his ankle needs to be fully recovered from the injury he suffered back in March playing for his country. Judging by this latest training video, it is looking good.
