Martin Dubravka is set for talks with Newcastle United over a potential early recall from his loan with Manchester United.

Goalkeeper Dubravka joined United on loan during Erik ten Hag’s first transfer window in charge after Newcastle signed Nick Pope.

The Chronicle report that Eddie Howe is set for talks with Dubravka over his future ahead of the window re-opening again next month.

Meanwhile, the stopper has given an interview to United’s official website, where he said he turned down over offers to move to Old Trafford.

Dubravka on United move

He said: “I had a couple of offers as well from abroad, and here in England in as well, which I considered.

“But, obviously when I had the chance to join Manchester United, it was quite simple for me. I wanted to join and want to be part of the process and part of this club. So I’m here now.

“I’m trying to help David [De Gea] to feel ready, but, at the same time, create a very good environment so he feels he has support when he needs it.

“Even you say it, the goalkeepers’ group is very tight. We work together almost every morning, more than with the players, so we have to stick together and have a good relationship together.”

It is difficult to see why Newcastle would want Dubravka back, with Pope shining as their number one and Karl Darlow and Mark Gillespie now back from injury too.

They also signed Loris Karius after loaning out Dubravka, so it not as if they are short in the goalkeeping department without him.

The only thing which may have changed since Dubravka joined is he has not played in the Europa League, like he may have hoped, but he spoke in glowing terms about the club in his interview.

Unlike other fringe players, he may also not get much chance to impress Ten Hag next week in the absence of United’s World Cup stars because David de Gea did not go away with Spain and will be present from the beginning of the training camp.
