Tahith Chong has finally made his full comeback from injury on loan from Manchester United to Birmingham City.

Last weekend, against Huddersfield, Chong made his return off the bench playing 24 minutes of the 2-0 defeat.

Lee Bowyer’s Blues travelled to face Bristol City at Ashton Gate and Chong was included in the starting lineup.

Chong wasted absolutely no time making an impact, scoring the earliest goal anywhere across England’s top four divisions on the day.

He netted within two minutes to put Bowyer’s side 1-0 up and remind Birmingham fans what they have been missing.

It was his first start since October but there were not too many signs of rustiness as the Blues made a rapid start.

It was 2-0 within 13 minutes, when Nico Gordon headed home to make it an even faster start for Birmingham.

Within three minutes of half-time, it was 2-1 when Alex Scott found the back of the net, but the Blues held out for the win on Chong’s first start back.

As per WhoScored, nobody in a blue shirt made more key passes which created chances than Chong’s three upon his return.

Only Juninho Bacuna had more shots than his two and his pass completion rate of 85.7 per cent was the second highest among Bowyer’s starters.

All in all, that makes for a very successful comeback start as Birmingham got a result which took them above their hosts and into 18th in the second tier.
