Manchester United have been handed a boost in the derby next weekend, as one Manchester City player will not be available for selection.
It’s the big one up next in the Premier League, as United take on Pep Guardiola’s side in the first Manchester derby of the season.
The pride of the city is on the line, and Erik ten Hag will be desperate to excite revenge on the Cityzen’s after their FA Cup Final loss last season.
There has been some good news for United, with one City player now unavailable due to a suspension he picked up this weekend.

Manuel Akanji unavailable for game against Manchester United
Manchester City star Manuel Akanji is set to miss the Manchester Derby next weekend after getting two yellow cards against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
The Cityzen’s ran out 2-1 winners against the Seagulls thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
But a dampener was put on their day when their Swiss centre-half was dismissed following two yellow card offences.
This means he will subsequently face a one-match ban, which is convenient as the champions head to Old Trafford to face United.
A boost, but Manchester City have immense squad depth
Akanji will be missed. Since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund last season, the 6’2 powerhouse has been an integral part of City’s side.
Nevertheless, United’s noisy neighbours are blessed with an extremely talented squad full of depth.
Guardiola had the luxury of bringing on former Premier League Player of the Season Ruben Dias in his place on Saturday.
This is the real difference between City and United as of late. A few injuries or suspensions would crumble United – but to City, it seems to just be a minor inconvenience.
Nevertheless, this bit of suspension news can only be a positive one for the red side of Manchester.
