Tyrell Malacia has continued his record of winning every game he has started in a Manchester United shirt.

The left-back was excellent yet again as the Red Devils won a fourth successive game, beating Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Malacia was tested by Gunners winger Bukayo Saka, and came through the encounter with flying colours.

He kept going until the very final whistle, winning one late tussle which earned him a roar of applause from the appreciative crowd.

Tyrell Malacia does it again

Malacia was Manchester United’s highest rated defender by FotMob, earning a 7.5 match rating. Marcus Rashford was the highest rated player on the day (9.2)

The Dutchman was United’s first summer signing, and while signed to bring in competition for Luke Shaw, he has effectively taken over a first choice already.

The former Feyenoord star was at his tenacious best against Arsenal, even if he did not venture too far forward to contribute from an attacking perspective.

He did the job which was asked of him, making eight ball recoveries, three interceptions, and winning four duels in total. Malacia made two clearances, winning one foul, and touched the ball 51 times in total.

“He played really well,” manager Erik ten Hag told the club website, adding that he was happy with the whole back four.

Shaw may come back in for Thursday night’s game with Real Sociedad if Erik ten Hag rotates the team, but it is likely Malacia will return on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

The match against Palace will provide another test, potentially with Wilfried Zaha going up against him. But having come through a clash with Mohamed Salah already, with flying colours, Malacia has nothing to fear.
