Tyrell Malacia impresses Louis van Gaal after scoring stunning outside of the boot goal in Netherlands training

Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia impressed Louis van Gaal after scoring a stunning outside of the boot goal in Netherlands training.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Red Devils from boyhood club Feyenoord to become Erik ten Hag’s first United signing, was an unused substitute in the Netherlands’ 2-0 Nations League win against Poland on Thursday.

Van Gaal, a former United manager, favoured fellow former Red Daley Blind in the left wing-back role ahead of United’s number 12.

Malacia will be hoping to feature in tonight’s clash against Belgium.

If Van Gaal’s Oranje avoid defeat against Roberto Martinez’s side they will guarantee qualification for the Nations League semi-finals.

Malacia, who has started United’s last six games, will be aiming to earn his sixth Netherlands cap in tonight’s game.

The left-back ensured he gave Van Gaal a timely reminder of his qualities by netting a beautiful goal in training.

Malacia curled the ball around Vincent Janssen with the outside of his left foot and into the bottom corner leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

A visibly delighted and impressed Van Gaal reacted to the goal with a chant of: “Ohhhh Malacia.”

With just four goals from 136 games during his time with Feyenoord, Malacia isn’t a prolific scorer by any stretch of an imagination.

But the way he slotted the ball home in Netherlands training should excite United fans.

With Ten Hag wanting Malacia and Diogo Dalot to be constant attacking outlets in his team, the outside of the foot shot and cross could be a sign of things to come from our new left-back at Old Trafford.

After coming up against Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka, Malaica is likely to face the biggest challenge of his Manchester United career to date when we travel to Manchester City in seven days time.
