Tyrell Malacia has chosen United over Lyon

French newspaper L’Equipe report Tyrell Malacia has made up his mind to join Manchester United over Lyon.

The report add Malacia has told Lyon he intends to sign for Manchester United.

Lyon even tried to increase their offer by 1 million Euros to get closer to United’s bid, but to no avail.

The Athletic now report Lyon have given up and pulled out of the race for the left-back.

Malacia, 22, now has to agree personal terms with United before sealing his move to the Red Devils. This is expected to be a formality.

Lyon are managed by former Ajax boss Peter Bosz, and they felt they had a good chance of signing the Feyenoord defender.

However, L’Equipe now report Lyon have been left with the ‘unpleasant impression’ that Malacia’s agents were stringing them along, and were holding out hope of going to Manchester United all along.

Malacia’s move to Lyon was certainly close, he would not have been able to hold on too much longer for United’s move, with a fee agreed with Feyenoord, before the Red Devils arrived with a better offer.

Lyon are already moving on to consider alternatives, fully realising they cannot compete with the lure or financial might of Manchester United.

It has not been an easy start to the transfer window for Manchester United, but with the Frenkie de Jong deal also close, report The Athletic, the wheels are turning in the right direction.
