There have been some worrying rumours over the past week linking Manchester United with a move for Eric Choupo-Moting.
The former Stoke City striker has to his credit been in excellent form lately for Bayern Munich, scoring nine goals in his last seven matches.
ESPN reported how United have identified Choupo-Moting as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. It is ridiculous enough to be true.
The 33-year-old is sadly the profile of striker United tend to pursue, following Odion Ighalo, Edinson Cavani, and a laughable pursuit of Marko Arnautovic this summer.
Sadly, Eric Choupo-Moting fits the short-term fix model the club have adopted in attack, and this extends to Ronaldo himself.

Two words to make Manchester United run a mile
A move for Eric Choupo-Moting should not be on the club’s agenda and there are two words to make Manchester United run a mile, from a recent report.
German newspaper BILD report former PSG star Choupo-Moting is looking for a ‘fat contract’ from his next move.
Manchester United’s name may purely be being used to try and generate more interest from elsewhere, we have seen this before with Bayern Munich players.
At the same time this shows how some players see United – as a gateway to cash in and land the contract of their dreams.
Choupo-Moting is no solution for any of Manchester United’s issues. A younger striker needs to be signed to lead Erik ten Hag’s project.
More than anything, United need to shed the image of being a club where players can go for a payday, to add to their bank balance while contributing very little.
Manchester United should be steering well clear of Choupo-Moting, and let him pursue his dreams of a ‘fat contract’ elsewhere.
