Manchester United have enjoyed a better early 2024 than late 2023, now two players have been named in WhoScored’s best 11 of 2024 so far.

This season has been full of ups and downs for Manchester United, but the first five months had little for fans to be happy about.

Knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the Champions League while struggling in the league, it wasn’t looking good for Erik ten Hag.

Since the turn of the year, however, he’s watched his team transform and pick up some real form with just two losses this calendar year.

A few players have been key in this run, but only two have been recognised in the team of 2024 so far, let’s find out who…

Who has been named in the WhoScored team of 2024 to date?

WhoScored has released their ‘Team of 2024’ so far based on each Premier League player’s average match rating from January 1st onwards.

In the XI, United have two players included at opposing ends of the field which demonstrates the improvements across the pitch that United have enjoyed over the last three months.

Andre Onana is the highest-rated goalkeeper in 2024 and makes the line-up, while Rasmus Hojlund is the second name in there for United up front.

Onana has achieved an average of 7.11 since the turn of the year, while Hojlund has scored a whopping 7.97 on average, with his six goals in the league in 2024 it’s unsurprising to see him here.

Meanwhile, Onana has begun to showcase his worth in goal, saving Ten Hag on numerous occasions with excellent shot-stopping.

Which Manchester United players could join Hojlund and Onana?

With two names in the ‘Best of 2024’ team right now, there are a few others who’ll fancy their chances of getting in by the time the final whistle blows on this campaign.

Bruno Fernandes is one player who’s having a quietly excellent season and could fancy his chances of replacing Martin Odegaard or one of the others should he enjoy a strong end to the season.

Another is Diogo Dalot who has been immense this season so far, with regular match ratings over 7 and 8 as per WhoScored.

There is plenty to be excited about for United as we head into the final few weeks with Champions League qualification and a potential FA Cup final on the line.
