The player surprisingly managed 20 league appearances in a United shirt and even scored twice – including one at Elland Road in a League Cup win – before being sold to Aston Villa in January 2005. Signed as one of many midfielders in that period tipped to be the next Roy Keane, the veteran Irishman outlasted the African at Old Trafford.
