Reports earlier this summer suggested that United want to sign a midfielder on loan to boost Amorim’s engine room.

Tim Howard on Toby Collyer
United could challenge Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce for Douglas Luiz, with the Juventus midfielder potentially available this summer.
Amorim is now assessing his options, and that will include youngster Toby Collyer.
Collyer came off the bench in the second half as United beat West Ham United 2-1 in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 21-year-old helped United see out the victory and will hope to start against Bournemouth later this week.
During the game, former United goalkeeper Tim Howard spoke about Collyer while on punditry duty for NBC Sports (27/07, 1:40am).
Howard suggested that United ‘think so highly’ of Collyer, and he does have the talent to make the grade under Amorim.
The American claimed that it all comes down to the opportunities he is given, seemingly believing that he needs chances to impress in the United midfield.
“I’m interested in how Collyer fits in here,” said Howard.
“They think so highly of him as a central midfield player. He gets attracted to the ball, he likes to be on the ball. Does he have enough to play at this level? I think he does, but it’s going to be about time and opportunity, really,” he added.

Toby Collyer approaching key stage of his United career
United snapped up Collyer in 2022, raiding the Brighton and Hove Albion ranks after an impressive trial spell.
Collyer was praised by Lisandro Martinez last season and showed his potential in the 1-0 win at Fulham.
Collyer failed to start a Premier League game last season, though, and he will know that he is entering a crucial period.
The England Under-20 international turns 22 in January, and this is the time for him to play first-team football.
If Collyer isn’t going to be given chances at United, few could blame him for seeking a permanent move away in 2026, and he will hope to do enough to convince Amorim of his quality during his pre-season campaign.
