Manchester United were absolutely picked apart by Newcastle United last night in the Carabao Cup.
Eddie Howe’s almost third-string Magpies were absolutely ruthless at Old Trafford, which handed Erik ten Hag his second horrendous loss at home in as little as four days.
Goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock were enough to send United crashing out of the Carabao Cup.
But it was one player was really above the level of anyone on the pitch – he also embarrassed United off it as well.

Tino Livramento vs Manchester United
Tino Livramento absolutely embarrassed Manchester United last night at Old Trafford.
The young English full-back was immense.
- 90 minutes played
- 1 assist
- 5 tackles
- 8/10 ground duels won
- 2 clearances
- MOTM

The 20-year-old was lightyears certainly above any Manchester United player, which leads to the fact this is also embarrassing off the pitch as well as on.
Tino Livramento highlights poor decisions at United
Before a fee with Newcastle United was agreed, back in February 2022 – Manchester United had their eye on Tino Livramento.
The full-back was making waves at Southampton, but United insisted that the duo of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot was competent enough going forward – and obviously spent the money elsewhere.
Dalot was arguably the worst player on the pitch last night, with Livramento the best. Wan-Bissaka was good, but it’s also mental to think Livramento isn’t even their first choice.
Livramento & Trippier vs Wan-Bissaka & Dalot
Newcastle’s superior recruitment is also highlighted in the fact Kieran Trippier was acquired – another long-term united target.
Now, Newcastle have arguably two better full-backs, for even cheaper. Our recruitment is shocking.
- Dalot & Wan-Bissaka – £69m combined
- Livramento & Trippier – £44m combined
