Manchester United have confirmed that Casemiro will now miss several weeks through injuries, with some fans now keen to sell.

Casemiro was withdrawn against Newcastle at half-time and it has now emerged that he is injured for quite some time.

According to the Official Manchester United website, Casemiro will be absent for numerous weeks.

The statement said: “Casemiro will be out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday.”

After the news, Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media to the injury news.

Fans react to Casemiro injury

After the news, some United fans weren’t keen on Casemiro sticking around after his injury, believing it is time to replace him.

One fan reacted to the news on X by suggesting United get rid of the Brazilian and look for a younger upgrade: “Casemiro was only going to give Manchester United max 3 good years. Maybe it’s time to hunt for a new top young DM with huge potential, most have already been poached though”.

Another fan agreed that Casemiro should be sold if Saudi Arabian interest comes in: “We shouldn’t turn down Saudi interest”.

While a third argued that United need to begin putting “feelers out ahead of a possible sale next year.” Which again indicates that he could be at the end of his Old Trafford career.

A fourth lumped Raphael Varane in on his critique but emphasised that it is time to cash in: “It’s time to cash in on Varane and Casemiro in Jan and sell them to Saudi clubs.”

Is his time at United over?

With Casemiro, it is difficult to see a long-term plan which includes him starting multiple games this time next year. Kobbie Mainoo is on the way and suits what Erik ten Hag wants far better, and various young midfielders are also linked including Joao Neves.

So it is difficult to see a potential Saudi Arabian bid being refused, especially with the huge wages they might be able to knock off the United bill.

It wouldn’t surprise us if he was to depart in the summer or even January, and if he does he probably leaves the club with his head held high. To avoid risking the relationship souring more.
