Tim Howard expects Ruben Amorim to now axe underperforming Man Utd star, ‘possibly next week’

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim needs to make a key change to his team.

Brentford is not an intimidating stadium for the opposition, but Manchester United have now failed to win there since Ralf Rangnick was in charge.

United lost 3-1 at the weekend to Brentford, and while parts of the game were competitive, the three goals conceded were all avoidable.

One common denominator was goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who was hapless for all three goals and has not kept a clean sheet for the club for 12 months.

Tim Howard backs goalkeeper change

Ruben Amorim has selected Altay Bayindir in goal for every Premier League game so far this season.

He looked shaky even in the two games United won, against Brentford and Chelsea, and has played particularly poorly in the team’s defeats.

United loaned out previous first choice Andre Onana, and signed Belgian under-21 star Senne Lammens on deadline day.

Lammens has had to wait behind Bayindir, and former goalkeeper Tim Howard believes the change could be imminent.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Howard was asked how much longer Bayindir has left as Manchester United’s first choice.

Howard responded: “Oh, not not much. Not much. He’s was shaky on set pieces.

“The goals, he gets a hand to them. If you get a hand to a goal, you should save it.

“I think we’re going to see a change very soon, possibly next week.”

Senne Lammens cannot be worse than Bayindir

Brentford’s shots appeared to go through Altay Bayindir as if he was not there, and the Turkish goalkeeper is a very evident weak point in the team.

Bayindir inspires no confidence in fans, and you would have to imagine his teammates feel similarly too.

Throwing in Senne Lammens is a good way to freshen Manchester United’s team up, and there is no need to wait.

United face Sunderland at the weekend at Old Trafford, and while there are no easy games in the Premier League, this is an easier test for Lammens to come into than the following game after the international break, against Liverpool.
