Manchester United are a club who have been synonymous with wingers down the years; and the famous number seven shirt lends itself to a famous right midfielder.
The reality these days could not be more different; United do not have an out-and-out right winger in the squad.
Juan Mata is an awkward fit, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young are full-backs, Jesse Lingard is evolving into a central playmaker; Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are all better on the right.
So we’ve picked out three players who could help solve that issue…

United’s interest in Croatian international Ivan Perisic was well-publicised but his fellow winger Ante Rebic was one of the breakout stars of this summer’s World Cup.
He is not the most gifted but he works extremely hard and makes intelligent runs in behind.
The wideman currently turns out for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, so the move to United would be something of a jump up.

Real Madrid are still adjusting to the reality of life without Cristiano Ronaldo and trying to settle on the right attacking formula.
Vasquez is a hugely talented, pacy wideman with international experience. Yet, it appears Marco Asensio is ahead of him in the Real pecking order, which might tempt the Spaniard to move.
He knows what it takes to be at a big club, has a point to prove, plenty of time to improve and is fearless. There’s a lot to like.

Douglas Costa

The four-match ban he received for spitting earlier in the season was deeply unsavoury and not what United want at the club.
But in football terms, Costa is an outstanding option as a right-winger. He is lightning fast, can beat a man on both sides and never stops running.
The Brazilian would add some much needed invention and unpredictability to the United attack and is the best man for the job, in truth.
