Gary Neville is backing Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund to shine, providing he gets the right support.
Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund has had a tough adaptation to English football so far, yet to score in a domestic match as we reach November. The Dane has at least managed to score three Champions League goals, offering a flash of quality, but the last of these came a month ago.
Gary Neville is confident Hojlund is a good signing. He told the Webby and O’Neill YouTube channel: “I love Hojlund. Hojlund is a player that fits the Manchester United profile of player.
“He’s young, he’s got plenty of growth, he’s strong. I’d hate to play against him.”

Rasmus Hojlund needs another striker
Neville says Rasmus Hojlund really needs another senior striker to either play alongside, or to take the pressure off him. And harking back to yesteryear, he rattled off names including one really dream partnership he believed would be unstoppable.
He said: “I’d have loved to see him up from with Cantona, I’d love to see him up front with Yorke, I’d love to see him up front with Coley, I’d love to see him up front with Wazza [Wayne Rooney].
“If he was up front with Wazza they’d beat everyone up. He’s having to be the man, not the assistant to the man, which he should be really. If he was up front with Harry Kane we’d be looking at someone rampaging through people.”
The Times reported in summer that Manchester United wanted Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Kane, but finances did not permit it, not after spending £55 million on Mason Mount.
On Mount, Neville expressed his doubts over the strategy, commenting: “Would I have said that was a priority in the summer? Probably not.”
Manchester United target three strikers
Well, speaking of signing another striker, Manchester United have reportedly recognised the issue and plan to add another centre-forward in the January transfer window.
The Mail report there is a three-man shortlist consisting of Porto’s Mehdi Taremi, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
The prices for those three will differ widely, with Osimhen up towards £100 million. Only Mehdi Taremi may really be in United’s price range.
We hope the list can widen, and United actually add a couple of new strikers, because Anthony Martial is a waste of a wage right now, and should have been shown the door a while ago. It’s good United are at least looking to rectify the lack of support Hojlund is getting.
