Patrice Evra has now revealed why he is “really happy” that Manchester United brought Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford last summer.
Matheus Cunha arrived first through the doors at the Premier League club after the Red Devils triggered his hefty £62.5m release clause at Wolves last June.
The 26-year-old Brazilian forward has been a key part of the attacking set-up and Cunha has netted seven times and registered four assists in 30 matches this season.
Bryan Mbeumo, on the other hand, has seen better returns than Cunha in the final third by finding the back of the net 10 times in 27 matches across all competitions.

What is your verdict on Matheus Cunha’s debut season for Man United?
Patrice Evra thinks Matheus Cunha has improved more than any other Man Utd player, including Bryan Mbeumo
Bryan Mbeumo, who has three assists to his name this season, arrived at Old Trafford last July after Manchester United paid an initial £65m fee to Brentford.
However, the 26-year-old Cameroon international has experienced a blip in form under Michael Carrick in recent weeks in the build-up to the March break.
Mbeumo has not scored in his last six Premier League matches, while Matheus Cunha has found the back of the net once in the same time frame for United.
Speaking to DHL Express, Patrice Evra admitted that Cunha stands out to him more than Mbeumo for a United first-team player who has improved the most this season.
“My favourite Manchester United players to watch [have] always been between Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs,” he said, as per the Metro.
“As for the most improved player this season, that’s a tough one because everyone is pushing hard this season, but I would probably say Matheus Cunha.
“I am really happy with the new signings, including Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. They bring something different to the team.”

Matheus Cunha has just become a MUST START under Michael Carrick… Agree?
Cunha is cooking under Carrick!
The standout Matheus Cunha qualities that have caught the eye of Man Utd legend Patrice Evra
Cunha has made nine Premier League starts in Michael Carrick’s 10-match interim spell so far and has been a lively attacking presence for the Red Devils at times.
During his period under United legend Carrick, former Wolves ace Cunha has scored twice and registered one assist for the Red Devils in the post-Ruben Amorim era.
Evra admitted that Cunha has shown his strengths in a Man Utd shirt with his speed and vision, with both him and Mbeumo standing out in the 2025-26 campaign.
“Cunha has great vision and skill, and he’s strong and fast playing up front,” he added.
“These signings are proving why they were brought to Manchester United. It’s not easy to play for this club, but they are doing very well.”
Man Utd are out of action due to the March international break and the Red Devils will return to Premier League football on 13th April against Leeds United at home.
