Alejandro Garnacho exploded at right-wing for Manchester United against Aston Villa, and now Erik ten Hag has explained his importance.
On boxing day, Alejandro Garnacho was fielded in an unfamiliar position as he lined out on the right side of Manchester United‘s attack.
This was a move few would’ve seen coming, although it is one which always seemed a possibility with the move suiting Garnacho’s talents.
Garnacho was able to solely beat his man and put balls across the box and on the other hand, was deadly when getting the ball in the box. His positional change has also unleashed a new lease of life in Marcus Rashford.
Rashford was very impressive against Villa and finally showed glimpses of his old self. A constant threat and assisted Garnacho in the process.
Rasmus Hojlund also benefitted from the shift within the frontline, as he grabbed his first goal in the Premier League. Now, Erik ten Hag has shared his view on the change.

Erik ten Hag on Alejandro Garnacho’s positional change
Speaking with Sky Sports, Ten Hag was raving about the impact his Argentine winger had on the right against Villa.
“With Garnacho on the right you get a right-footer, a different type of player who can go inside but also go outside.
“We want those dynamics with swapping positions, combinations, getting in behind, bringing it out of the triangles & from there, serving our strikers.”
While the move has been positive in the main, there is one man who will be fuming and Ten Hag’s comments will only further spell bad news.
Garnacho’s success is bad news for Antony
From the sounds of things, Garnacho won’t be vacating the right-wing slot anytime soon with a start there against Nottingham Forest predicted and that spells bad news for Antony.
Manchester United’s Brazilian ace has struggled to find form for much of his career at United with fans growing weary of his one-footedness and poor footballing IQ.
Ten Hag’s comments praising Garnacho for what he brings therefore will spell terrible reading for Antony as he offers little in that area.
