Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been asked about the form and future of recently rejuvenated Marcus Rashford.
Ten Hag has conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s Europa League opener against Real Sociedad.
He said that Rashford is happy and enjoying his football, but has also worked incredibly hard on his game during his reign.
Ten Hag was also asked about Rashford’s contract situation, with his current deal running out in July, but the club have an option to trigger an extra year’s extension.

Ten Hag hails Rashford
When asked about Rashford’s improvement, Ten Hag said: “It is difficult for me to talk about the past.
“But what I see is a happy Marcus Rashford and I see some phases in his game that we could still improve. We worked really hard in the last two and a half months with him on different aspects.
“He likes it and wants to transfer it to the pitch. That is what you see in this moment. It started with happiness. You see he is coming here every day really smiling, he enjoys it. A really positive vibe.
“If you put all those things together; the way of playing, wanting to improve different aspects of your game and you are happy, you will contribute more to the team, the result, the performances and your development.”
When asked specifically about Rashford’s contract, and whether he would like him to be part of his long-term plans, he added: “Definitely. I don’t think he is out of contract (this summer). I think United control the situation.”
There were whispers about Rashford wanting to leave at points last season but now he seems happier and he is playing better.
There is still more to come in terms of workrate in some games and consistency and it seems Ten Hag knows that too. His demands are relentless.
United have that option which means that there is no need to rush into anything and of course plenty will depend on if and when the club sign a new long-term forward option.
Everyone just wants to see Rashford keep this form going over the course of the season, because his career had really stalled even before his Euro 2020 heartbreak.
