Ten Hag makes decision
Speaking at a press conference, Erik ten Hag explained that he does not want to deny the young players an opportunity.
He said United need ‘positions free’ for the promising youngsters in the squad to play.
Ten Hag explained: “I’m sure we have enough players to cover it. And so I’m also happy with the development of some academy players.

“And also we need positions free that they have the opportunity to deserve their position.”
Sales expected
Kobbie Mainoo has particularly stood out, and his progress has opened the door for Fred’s departure. He is not even on pre-season tour.
Dan Gore and Hannibal have also impressed, and it is hard to see a place in the squad for Donny van de Beek. Scott McTominay’s future is also uncertain.
Anthony Elanga is also on the verge of an exit. This has been made possible by Alejandro Garnacho’s rise to the first team.
Ten Hag intends to keep the path clear for players like Garnacho to step up, and Mainoo and co could be set to benefit in the same way.
