Ten Hag praises five Manchester United players who impressed him v Sevilla

Erik ten Hag has remained in a positive mood, praising his side as he previewed Sundays game against Nottingham Forest.

Last-nights draw with Sevilla left United with another two injuries in their ever growing list, with both first-choice centre-backs out.

However ten Hag highlighted several impressive performances from the game. He also insisted his squad has the talent to cope with the injuries.

“We have depth in the squad. We have to use the squad – that’s also what we did yesterday. In the meantime, you have to win games so also you have to have a tactical approach to win games. But I think we have good players and when we have problems – injuries and suspensions – we have depth in the squad.

“[Against Sevilla] Aaron Wan-Bissaka played very well, Antony played very well, Marcel Sabitzer played really well. Bruno played very good and Anthony Martial as well.”

Ten Hag offers no sympathy for excuses

While praising several, ten Hag also offered no sympathy for any players who came to him with excuses.

“When you want to find excuses, then you don’t have to play at Manchester United, you have to look for another club!”

This comes amidst an injury crisis, which leaves the Dutch boss reliant on some of his squad and fringe players. On this he insists that players must step-up when called upon.

“You have to wait for your moment, and when your moment is there, then you have to contribute, and you have to bring a performance, that is what we demand.”
