Erik ten Hag has confirmed three Manchester United players are set to return to training ahead of the Chelsea game on Saturday.

Speaking at his press conference, Ten Hag says he has positive news regarding Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek.

Triple injury boost

Asked about all three players, Ten Hag relayed the good news, commenting: “They are all making good progress and they will all return in team training this week.”

This places all three on schedule to train ahead of Manchester United’s match with Chelsea this coming Saturday.

Whether Ten Hag selects any of them to travel with the squad is another matter. He may feel they require more training work before being considered for first team action.

To simply return to training is positive progress, and all three could aim for Manchester United’s match at home to Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League next Thursday.

Harry Maguire has not featured for United since the defeat to Real Sociedad at the end of September. He suffered an injury while on international duty with England.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has not played since a substitute appearance against Liverpool at the end of August, although he did make the bench against Sociedad.

Van de Beek has also not featured since the Liverpool match and getting him back is a welcome option to Erik ten Hag, he will be determined to make up for lost time.

All three players are down the pecking order and will have to fight their way into the team. But with Europa League and EFL Cup matches offering chances to rotate, before the World Cup break, there should be opportunities for all three to feature, providing there are no injury setbacks.
