Manchester United did not have an easy game at all against Luton, despite racing into a 2-0 lead.
At the end of 2023, Manchester United’s defeat to Nottingham Forest came courtesy of an assist from former player Anthony Elanga.
Against Luton yesterday, Erik ten Hag‘s side went up against two former Carrington graduates, with Teden Mengi and Tahith Chong in the starting line-up.
United ended up with a 2-1 win, with Luton fighting back into the game and pushing the visitors right up until the final whistle.

Kobbie Mainoo shows support for Teden Mengi
Teden Mengi left Manchester United this past summer, having made two appearances for the club in cup competitions.
His last year at United was hampered by injury, and he has done really well this season to establish himself as a first team regular in the Premier League.
Mengi gave a good account of himself against United, and he even created three chances from aerial duels he won.
He was spotted in conversation with Kobbie Mainoo at full-time, his former United under-21 teammate.
Mengi also wrote on social media after the game, pledging not to get too low after the loss. He was praised by another ex-teammate, Anthony Elanga, while Mainoo responded with a ‘heart’ emoji.

Tahith Chong feels hard done by
Another former United academy player, Tahith Chong, played a big part in Luton’s goal. He featured for 68 minutes.
Chong, who left United on a permanent basis a year ago for Birmingham, before signing for Luton in the summer, also commented on social media after the game.
He felt hard done by, writing: “Deserved more today. Thankyou to the fans for the brilliant support always.”
Luton face Liverpool in the league next week and then City in the FA Cup. Maybe they will bring some more cheer to Manchester United fans by getting a result in one of those games.
