Tahith Chong is in ‘advanced talks’ with Birmingham City and could join his Manchester United teammate Hannibal Mejbri at St Andrew’s, says Fabrizio Romano.
The former Netherlands Under-21 international made 20 Championship appearances for Birmingham City last season under the tutelage of Lee Bowyer.
But the former Feyenoord youngster’s season-long loan with the Blues was hampered after having groin surgery.
Despite featuring under Erik ten Hag during pre-season, the 22-year-old doesn’t look to have a future at Old Trafford under his compatriot.

Chong’s contract with the Red Devils was set to expire this summer, but the twenty-time league champions triggered a 12-month extension.
According to Romano, Birmingham could potentially be looking to re-sign the winger on a permanent deal having scored one goal and providing three assists from his 20 appearances in the second tier of English football last season.
The move for the former Monaco starlet was confirmed yesterday and Hannibal could make his Birmingham debut in tonight’s Championship clash against Norwich City.

While Chong could be following the Tunisian to St Andrew’s, Birmingham’s new number six is set to embark on his first loan spell in professional football.
The 19-year-old could come up against United teammates Ethan Laird and Alvaro Fernandez who have joined fellow Championship sides Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End.
After his move to former Premier League side Birmingham had been confirmed, Fernandez commented on Hannibal’s Instagram post: “See you soon.”
United’s number 46 jokingly suggested that they should swap shirts after the game when Preston play Birmingham.
Hannibal replied: “Swap shirts”.
The pair won’t have to wait long to come up against one and other because Birmingham will travel to Deepdale on Saturday (3 September).
