Manchester United loanee Amad was “amazing” in Sunderland’s 1-1 draw against Luton Town, says Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray.
The 20-year-old started back-to-back games for the Stadium of Light side for the first time since joining on a season-long loan in August having been included in the starting line-up for yesterday’s Championship draw at Kenilworth Road.
Having scored his first goal for the promoted side in last week’s 4-2 defeat to Burnley, the four-time Ivory Coast international also completed the 90 minutes in consecutive Sunderland games.

Alongside his 63 touches, which was only bettered by two players from either side, the former Atalanta starlet had more shots on goal (4) than any other player on the pitch, reports WhoScored.
As well as creating one chance, Sunderland’s number 16 put in a big shift out of possession. The Ivorian won eight duels and made three tackles.
Speaking after the draw against The Hatters, Mowbray was full of praise for Amad’s “amazing” all round performance.
Mowbray said: “His performance level has just grew, grew and grew for us – the kid was perhaps a little scarred from his experience with Rangers where he didn’t play as much as he wanted to in Scotland.
“He was amazing today. First half what a goal threat he was and how tight he is with the ball, showed a brilliant work ethic running back and challenging, which is what he needs to do, so the senior players at the club respect him because he does the dirty work as well as just showing us how talented he is.
“I thought he was amazing today and he makes the decision making of selecting a team really difficult.”
Following his loan move to Rangers in January until the end of the 2021-22 season, Amad scored three goals from 13 appearances for Giovani van Bronckhorst’s side.
But he didn’t feature in the Ibrox giants’ run to the Europa League final and only made five further starts after netting on his debut.
