Stuttgart begins talks to sign replacement for United target Sasa Kalajdzic

Manchester United’s path to sign striker Sasa Kalajdzic appears to be getting clearer. His club Stuttgart are now working on a deal for a replacement.

The Times reports Kalajdzic is a £20 million option for Manchester United to add depth up front.

Now Sky Germany report Stuttgart are holding negotiations to sign Joshua Zirkee from Bayern Munich to lead their attack.

The report adds Stuttgart expect Kalajdzic to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

Stuttgart begins talks over Kalajdzic replacement

At the start of August, Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat told SWR Sport the club were looking to sign a successor for Kalajdzic.

Now it appears they are moving ahead with their plan, having identified a target to replace the Austrian international.

Zirkee spent last season on loan at Anderlecht and Bayern are willing to sell the 21-year-old at the right price. This would be less than the £20 million Stuttgart would seek for Kalajdzic.

Their interest in Zirkee opens the door for clubs to sign Kalajdzic, who is one of Manchester United’s options. The striker has only one year left on his deal.

The Mail has also reported the centre-forward is on United’s radar, while Sky Germany reported Manchester United held talks with his agents back on July 11.

What Kalajdzic can offer United

Sasa Kalazdzic stands at a mountainous 6ft 7″ and would present United with a more unorthodox Plan B in attack.

He has four international goals for Austria including a strike at Euro 2020, and is 25-years-old.

Last season he scored 6 goals in 15 games after missing time with a shoulder injury, netting 16 in 33 matches the season before.

Mislintat told “Sasa showed last year’s season, in the second half of the season and at the European Championships, that he is one of the absolute top center strikers in Europe.”
