BBC Sport pundit Troy Deeney has hailed the performance of one talented player in Brentford and Manchester United’s Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United dropped points against Brentford on the weekend after the Bees came from 1-0 down to beat the Red Devils 4-3 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Mason Mount opened the scoring for United in the first half before Brentford pulled level after Luke Shaw put the ball past Altay Bayindir in the United net.

Kevin Schade scored his first of two against United in the 33rd minute and the Bees went into half-time with a 2-1 lead on the scoreboard in the Premier League tie.

Thomas Frank’s men extended their lead in the second half after Kevin Schade completed his brace before Yoane Wissa put Brentford 4-1 up in the 74th minute.

United fought back against Brentford late in the second half and Alejandro Garnacho pulled one back for the Red Devils in the 82nd minute with a sensational strike.

Amad Diallo came off the bench in the second half and the United winger netted deep into injury time, but Ruben Amorim’s men fell to a 4-3 defeat on the day.

Troy Deeney singles out the stunning impact of Kevin Schade in Brentford’s Premier League win over Man Utd

Manchester United languish in 15th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have only three league matches remaining in their lacklustre season.

Ruben Amorim’s side have lost a whopping 16 times in the Premier League alone in the 2024-25 campaign and United have only managed 10 wins in the league.

United will end the season with their worst finish in the Premier League era and their hopes of securing European football hinge on their Europa League run this season.

Troy Deeney picked out a slot in his attack for Brentford player Kevin Schade after he named him in his BBC Sport Premier League Team of the Week.

Speaking in his BBC Sport column, he said: “Two goals against Man Utd gets you a lot of credit but everyone talks a lot about Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo – obviously because these guys are very good and very talented – but he’s chipped away.

“He lost a long time to injury but since he’s been back in the fold he deserves a bit of credit – because to score two against Manchester United is always special.”

Ruben Amorim speaks out on what Man Utd’s Premier League result vs Brentford showed about the Red Devils

United manager Amorim admitted that he noticed what the Red Devils “need to address” in the remainder of their matches in the 2024-25 campaign.

“It was a little bit of a reflection of our moment,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“We started well, we controlled the game quite well, but then throw-ins and set-pieces were a problem for us, but that is normal because we didn’t have the height in the team.

“That is something that we need to address when we come to these games. But the context is the context in this moment.

“We were near the draw, we suffered [to go] 3-1 down and then we let go. It was quite similar to the first games we had where we lost control for a second and suffered two goals in a row.

“We fought back, we were near, we tried to push, but then, in the end, we lost.”

United will return to Europa League action on Thursday when the Red Devils host Athletic Club for the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tie at Old Trafford.
