Sofyan Amrabat believes that Manchester United will come through this difficult start to the season and that their 2-1 win over Brentford can be the springboard they have needed.
It’s been a tough start to the season for Manchester United who currently lie in mid-table obscurity but their latest, dramatic win over Brentford, and points being dropped elsewhere, meant things could be looking up for the Red Devils.
Sofyan Amrabat has predominantly featured as a left-back during his stint at the club under Erik ten Hag but finally featured in the middle of the park against Thomas Frank’s side and looked much more assured in his game.
The Moroccan midfielder is confident the rut will stop.

Amrabat’s confidence
Speaking to Premier League Productions, via the United website, the former Fiorentina man believes with a little more luck, the Red Devils would be higher up the division.
“I think I can say a lot of things, but I don’t want to use them as an excuse,” Amrabat said. “I think in life, but also in football, it never goes always only good, or top. You always have a moment that maybe it will be a little bit difficult, and now I think it’s a bit like that at the moment.
“Maybe with a bit more luck, we’d have won the games that we didn’t win. So I have a lot of confidence and I think yeah, we work very hard every day.
“Nobody will give it to you. You have to work for it. But we work very hard and I believe it will be fine. It will be good.”
He’s right, United could point to injuries as an excuse, but that would be too easy a ‘get out’ for the inconsistent displays we have seen this season.
Amrabat’s relationship with Ten Hag
The midfielder, who used to play for Ten Hag during the pair’s time at FC Utrecht, is accustomed to the Dutchman’s demands and believes with time and patience the Red Devils will click into gear under the former Ajax boss.
“We train a lot, with what the manager asks of us and the way he wants to play,” the Moroccan midfielder said.
“We put a lot of time and energy into that and, like I said, there are a lot of good things. Of course, we are not perfect yet, but I think nobody’s perfect. It needs time.”
It’s hard to disagree with Amrabat, United have been good in games. The Brighton disallowed goal or the Alejandro Garnacho offside goal potentially prevented United from picking up four points or more.
Luck needs to be on their side and the hope will be from Amrabat and everyone at United that the late, great Brentford winner from Scott McTominay will be the start of something special.
