Manchester United are expected to announce the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta today.

An agreement was said to be reached on Saturday between United and the Serie A side over the transfer of the Danish forward.

Fabrizio Romano broke the news of the deal being completed as he gave fans his famous three word catchphrase, declaring “here we go!”.

It was then The Athletic who shed more light onto the deal as they reported:

“Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the signing of forward Rasmus Hojlund in a deal worth €75million (£64m) plus €10m (£8.5m) in performance-related add-ons.”

Personal terms were never thought to be an issue as Hojlund was said to have only wanted United and had even went as far as joining the same agency as Erik ten Hag to make it happen.

Now however the time which his decision was made has been disclosed.

Hojlund’s decision to join

With Hojlund set on a move to United, many have been keen to see him come in, with his desperation to join a huge plus.

Now Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy has tweeted to suggest the reason as to why Hojlund made his decision as early as June.

She tweeted: “Finishing touches being put on the Rasmus Hojlund deal today. The forward had already made his decision to join Manchester United in June, canvassing info on the club from Christian Eriksen during Denmark duty.”

Hojlund and Eriksen of-course are international teammates and Eriksen has spoken about his joy at Hojlund joining the club.

When will the deal be official

Hojlund arrived in Manchester yesterday and went to Carrington where he underwent the first part of his medical.

Fabrizio Romano has said this morning that Hojlund is now back at Carrington for the completion of his medical before signing his contract.

Therefore we expect that the deal is not far off announcement and would suggest it could be expected anytime after 12pm today UK time.

This would allow him to be signed in time to likely feature in one of the pre-season friendlies this weekend either at Old Trafford or in Dublin.
