Sky Germany: Talks ongoing and 'good' between Manchester United and Hoffenheim for David Raum
The Mail reported Manchester United’s interest in Hoffenheim left-back David Raum, one of the top Bundesliga stars of 2021/22.
Now there is further developments, with Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claiming talks have now begun between the two clubs.
Raum has provided 26 assists across the past two seasons combined, and has established himself as a regular in the Germany squad over the past year.
The 24-year-old recently provided an assist in Germany’s 5-2 win over Italy, and there is big interest in his signature.
With talks ‘ongoing’, and seemingly going well, there is encouragement United’s interest in the player is genuine.
Talks ongoing and ‘good’
It appears Luke Shaw could have fresh competition at the left-back spot next season. It is not the only flank where United need to strengthen.
At right-back there is an even greater dearth of quality options, and it would be a little surprising if United were to prioritise the left side first.
As suggested, there is a long way to go before this deal gets done, and it does not sound like any bids have been submitted, with United simply testing the waters.
United’s top priority is to get the move for midfielder Frenkie de Jong over the line, then the other chips should begin to fall into place.
Supporters have been left feeling let down that the club have not yet struck any deals a month since the season ended, when there is so much work on the squad left to be done.
But if two or three deals can be concluded in the next fortnight before the side heads off on pre-season tour, the slow start will be quickly forgotten.
