Six pundits are all in agreement over where Manchester United will finish this Premier League season after a poor campaign so far.

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure from fans at Manchester United following their 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in their last Premier League game.

That defeat to the East Midland side was the club’s 14th in all competitions but the pressure on the Dutchman was eased with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.

Champions League football is already beginning to look remote as we wait for approval of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 per cent takeover of Manchester United before a decision over the Dutchman’s future will be made.

Pundits predict United’s finish

According to a post on X from the official Premier League account, Michael Owen, Karen Carney, Matt Holland, Leon Osman, Darren Bent and Don Hutchison have all tipped the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to be battling it out for the Champions League spots come May.

However, one side these pundits believe will not be in the race for Champions League football is United who are 8th place in the Premier League currently and are already nine points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.

If United fail to break into the top four, which is certainly looking likely based on their current run of form, then it will be yet another campaign next season without Champions League football.

United could well miss out on European football altogether if they continue their slide down the league table and a year without football across the continent would be a disaster for the club’s financial situation.

Ten Hag has to turn things around

It was around this time of the season last campaign when Ten Hag’s side kicked into gear and went on a winning run that propelled them up the table and, briefly, into a title race.

That didn’t last very long but the Red Devils finished third in the division and won a Carabao Cup. A similar run this season could be huge for the Red Devils but there are no signs of this happening which will be of big concern.

Champions League football is looking remote. For the remainder of the season, pride back into the shirt will be vital before yet another sweeping rebuild will take place in the summer.
