Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he would “hope” that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos would allow two things to happen for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
Ruben Amorim left Sporting CP last November and the 40-year-old Manchester United manager arrived at Old Trafford as the replacement for Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October after a shocking start to the 2024-25 Premier League season and Amorim has faced an uphill task.
United’s form has continued to take a major blow in the current campaign and the Red Devils languish in 14th place under Amorim in the Premier League table.
The Red Devils have only four league matches remaining and United are on course for their worst finish in the table in the Premier League era.
United have suffered a whopping 15 league defeats alone in the 2024-25 campaign and the Red Devils have only managed 10 wins from 34 league matches so far.

Rio Ferdinand sends a clear-cut message to Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co about Ruben Amorim at Man Utd
The remainder of Manchester United’s season now hinges on whether Ruben Amorim can lead the Red Devils to the Europa League trophy before the campaign is out.
United knocked Lyon out of the Europa League quarter-finals and the Red Devils punched their ticket to the semi-finals of the tournament this season.
The Red Devils travelled to Spain to resume their Europa League campaign after United’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
La Liga outfit Athletic Club hosted United at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao for the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday evening.
Speaking ahead of United’s encounter with Athletic Club, Rio Ferdinand admitted that it would be “unimaginable” if the Red Devils didn’t lift the Europa League title.
The 46-year-old United legend added that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos must now show support to Ruben Amorim in two key areas before the season is out.
“It would be a start that was unimaginable from his point of view [missing out on the Europa League trophy],” Ferdinand told TNT Sports.
“I hope they give him time in pre-season and then start of the season to put his stamp on the team.”
Ruben Amorim could not be clearer about the Europa League amid Man Utd’s shocking 2024-25 season
The Europa League would offer United a route back to the Champions League and Amorim admitted even that is not enough to “save” the Red Devils’ current season.
“Everybody knows that it’s really important for our season,” Amorim said ahead of the first-leg semi-final tie, as per BBC Sport.
“We know that nothing is going to save our season, but this can be huge.
“Winning a trophy and also to get in the Champions League, to have European games next year, could change a lot of things in our club, even in the summer.”
United will now travel to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday ahead of the return leg against Athletic Club.
