Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed by the ‘outstanding’ Senne Lammens, who recently became Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper after joining the club from Royal Antwerp.
Nobody can downplay the fact that Manchester United’s new signings have played a pivotal role in the five-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Bryan Mbeumo has scored six goals since joining the club from Brentford, while Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens have hit the ground running.
Other players like Benjamin Sesko need more time to properly adjust to their new surroundings in the Premier League, but it helps players like Mbeumo and Cunha that they arrived at Old Trafford already having played in the top flight.
United will be tasked with getting back to winning ways when they host Everton in the Premier League after the November international break. It’s also a chance to make it six games unbeaten since United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at the beginning of October.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s impressed by Senne Lammens at Man Utd
Interestingly, United haven’t been beaten since Lammens came into the team to replace Altay Bayindir.
In his debut against Sunderland, Lammens kept United’s first clean sheet of the season.
The 23-year-old Belgian has proven to have a safe pair of hands since then, with a noticeable shift in his approach to kicking the ball long distances.
It’s a million miles away from Andre Onana, who would take unnecessary risks at the back and create problems for United’s defence, which never looked comfortable with the Cameroon international between the sticks.
Onana is currently on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey, while Lammens is making the goalkeeper role his own at United.
Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has given his verdict on Lammens following his impressive start at United.
Attending the Bahrain International Trophy, Raceday caught up with Ferguson, who was asked if he was happy with United’s improved results: “Well, they are, the signs, the manager has had some good times. Particularly the goalkeeper has been outstanding, he’s only had three or four games, but he’s looking really good.
“Of course, Mbeumo and Cunha, the new players from Wolves and Brentford, they’ve added to it. I hope the manager has a bit of success, the signs are getting better.”
Ferguson is clearly wishing Ruben Amorim the best as United head coach, but, interestingly, he singles out Lammens in such a way. The improvement he has brought between the sticks has been huge.
Which goalkeeper made the most appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson?
Peter Schmeichel made more appearances under Ferguson than any other goalkeeper.
The Dane made 398 appearances for the Red Devils, keeping 180 clean sheets between 1991 and 1999.
Who is Manchester United’s best manager since Sir Alex Ferguson?
Edwin van der Sar was the next most frequent goalkeeper, making 266 appearances between 2005 and 2011.
Hopefully, Lammens can follow in their footsteps as iconic goalkeepers.
