Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance as Manchester United beat Manchester City in this afternoon’s Manchester derby.

United produced a comeback Sir Alex would have been proud of, turning the game on its head within a matter of minutes.

Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser got Old Trafford rocking almost out of nowhere and United fed off the energy of the support thereafter.

Then, substitute Alejandro Garnacho set up Marcus Rashford to keep the form of his life going and win the game 2-1.

United came out slow at the start of the second half, with City getting on top of the game and opening the scoring on the hour mark.

Ferguson’s face was a reflection of most United fans’ at that stage, when Jack Grealish’s goal put City in front.

But after the turnaround, Ferguson was looking pleased in the stands as Old Trafford rocked to the sounds of a huge result.

United have now gone within one point of their bitter rivals ahead of facing Crystal Palace on Wednesday night in that rearranged game.

Erik ten Hag looks like the United manager who is in the most powerful position since Ferguson, and his authority at the club is ultimate.

He has found a way to win big home matches against their closest rivals this season, and that has helped bring the feel-good factor back.

It is now nine wins in a row for United, and they will be looking to keep that momentum going for as long as they possibly can.
