Sir Alex Ferguson has now singled out two legendary former Manchester United teams that he had during his iconic managerial spell at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United legend is considered one of the best managers of all time after his impact in England with the Red Devils and with Aberdeen in Scotland.

Sir Alex Ferguson arrived at Old Trafford in 1986 after he left Scottish side Aberdeen and succeeded Ron Atkinson, who had been sacked, at the Red Devils.

The 82-year-old legendary Scotsman navigated a difficult start to life at Old Trafford and managed to turn the tide back in his favour at United.

Ferguson ushered in a dynasty period for United during his legendary 26-year reign at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils largely dominating English football at the time.

During his spell in the Old Trafford dugout, Ferguson led United to 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups and four League Cups.

Ferguson talks two Man Utd teams

Speaking to TNT Sports, Sir Alex Ferguson sat down with Rangers legend Ally McCoist and opened up about his legendary career in management.

The iconic former Manchester United manager opened up on the “quality” of his incredible teams of the past and the Red Devils’ dominance in the 1990s.

The Aberdeen legend admitted that his 1994-95 team at United was “tough as nails,” which finished second to Blackburn Rovers in the title race by a single point.

Ferguson claimed his 2007-08 United side was a really “talented team,” which ended the season with the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy.

“The perseverance, they never give in. That’s a quality that great teams always had,” he told Ally McCoist.

“It’s also about myself and the team. We were second in the league six times and won the next year. Isn’t that amazing? Six times second, and twice on goal difference, and won the league the next year.

“That tells you what that club was about, what those players were about. Not just one set of players, that was going back to the ’94-95 team, tough as nails.

“To a really talented team in 2008, with [Carlos] Tevez, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Wayne] Rooney up front. Unbelievable.”

Ferguson on major change to Man Utd teams

Ferguson claimed that the 1994-95 team that he had at United was “basically an English team” and lacked the major “foreign influence” of players from abroad.

Fast-forward to 2008 and the former United manager highlighted that football had radially shifted, with Ferguson now having a “few foreign players” in his team.

“The ‘94-95 team was basically an English team, with [Peter] Schmeichel, didn’t have a lot of foreign influence,” he added.

“By the time we got to 2008, we had quite a few foreign players, the game had changed.

“Every foreign player, European player came in, adapted right away. They probably looked onto coming to United [as] bigger than anything, because the reputation of the club had grown.

“There’s no question, people say it’s the biggest club in the world. It’s a club that probably had one billion fans over the world. It’s that kind of club. It’s got a romance about it.”
