Benjamin Sesko showed his quality this week when he fired Red Bull Salzburg to a 1-0 friendly win over Liverpool.

The striker’s skilful and direct display was eye-catching and highlight clips had Manchester United fans on social media pleading for the club to sign him.

The Slovenian international, 19, was linked with a transfer move to Manchester United this week, with The Mail reporting interest.

A staggering £55 million price tag has been set by the Austrian club, who are reluctant to lose the promising striker so soon.

Sesko’s agent meets with Salzburg

Sesko’s agent held a meeting with Red Bull Salzburg last night over the player’s future, report Slovenian outlet Sport Klub.

Salzburg sports director Christoph Freund attended the meeting, with Sesko’s representative Elvis Bašanović.

The Austrian club are reluctant to sell Sesko after cashing in on Karim Adeyemi to Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Like with the Antony situation at Ajax, United are potentially moving too late to sign the player, at least for a reasonable price.

Sport Klub report one possible option would involve United paying a fee and then loaning Sesko back to the Austrian side for the season.

This would be an interesting scenario for United, also could also see the £55 million asking price slashed if Salzburg were to get an extra year out of him.

At present there is no formal offer from United. Fabrizio Romano reports the club are ‘aware’ of Sesko and ‘well informed’.
