The greatest footballers in the world may soon be vying for Alejandro Garnacho’s approval.

Garnacho, 17, trains with Lionel Messi for Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United.

He was in the match day squad with Ronaldo for the first time today against Norwich, albeit as an unused substitute.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick and kindly gave Garnacho the match ball after the game.

The greatest

Garnacho appreciated the gesture, and left a message on Instagram in tribute to Ronaldo, labelling him the greatest of all time.

But there was a cheeky response from former City foe Sergio Aguero underneath.

Aguero’s message translates as, ‘because you have not played with Lionel Messi yet’.

Garnacho has trained with him, and viewed it as a great honour, posting pictures on his social media after his surprise call up into the Argentina squad last month.

But he has not played yet with Ronaldo either, although he is getting closer.

Garnacho has been a fan of Ronaldo going back to when he was in Atletico Madrid’s academy, switching to United to follow his path.

There are even similarities in their games, with Garnacho having an explosive style like a young Ronaldo, able to score all types of goals.

The fact he was in United’s squad today says a lot about how highly he is regarded at just 17, and he could make his senior debut by time the season is over.
