Scott McTominay continues to be a solid player for Manchester United.
A product of the academy ranks, Scott McTominay has now fully solidified himself as a regular offender in the Manchester United first-team squad.
The Scotsman was nearly sold by Erik ten Hag in the summer, but he’ll be glad the West Ham move never materialised. They’ve needed him, particularly in the goal department.
It also appears that the 27-year-old is happy at Old Trafford. He gets on with the squad, in particular his best mate – which may come as a surprise to many.

Scott McTominay reveals his best friend at Manchester United
Speaking to Goal, McTominay was asked to build his perfect footballer made up of several different categories in a quick-fire question game.
One of the questions involved a ‘best friend’ category, to which the Scotsman instantly responded: “Tom Heaton.”
Evidently, the veteran goalkeeper and McTominay get on like a house on fire. It isn’t too out of the ordinary, with McTominay now one of the more senior squad members… we just did not expect this to be his immediate response!
Scott McTominay’s perfect footballer
With Heaton taking up the spot for his best pal, what other categories were there and who else was involved? Here are his picks for the other categories below:
- Goalscorer? – Harry Kane
- Underrated? – Mousa Dembele
- Speed? – Kylian Mbappe
- Best friend? – Tom Heaton
- Scary? – Zlatan Ibrahimovic
- Adidas Predator? – Zinedine Zidane
- Skills – Neymar?
- GOAT? – Lionel Messi
Former Red Devil Zlatan Ibrahimovic is included as the scariest player and the Scotsman also snubs Cristiano Ronaldo in the greatest of all-time debate. That will turn some heads.
Harry Kane was nearly a Manchester United player who was also involved – the option for a phenomenal goalscorer in Scott’s eyes. That’d be some player… who knew Heaton would make up the personality side?
