Manchester United are still without injured midfielder Scott McTominay for this evening’s game.

After missing the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend, Scott McTominay is not yet ready to make his return.

Erik ten Hag provided an update on the Scotland international, via the club website.

He said: “Scott, we have to wait a little bit longer, I fear. But I am sure they are all motivated to be back as soon as possible as we play a lot of ‘finals’, huge games and, in the end, we know what is going on then.”

Kobbie Mainoo out too

One other absentee in recent weeks has been young talent Kobbie Mainoo, who turned 18 last week.

The England youth international made his Premier League debut in February and was a regular in the matchday squads between January and March.

The MEN report Mainoo has an injury and was not in training this week. He was pictured raining at Carrington in early April but it is uncertain when he will return.

Both McTominay and Mainoo are back-ups, so their absences don’t impact United’s game plan for Tottenham tonight.

But in terms of depth, it is good to have more options available. There are particularly high hopes for Mainoo, who made his first start for Manchester United earlier this year in the Carabao Cup.

If he can be fit for the FA Cup final it would be a great experience for him, while his real chance to shine could come on the pre-season tour of the USA.
