Scholes, Neville and Giggs have all raved about new Manchester United ace Christian Eriksen

Manchester United fans hope to catch a first glimpse of new signing Christian Eriksen in club colours later today.

Since his move to Old Trafford was announced on July 15, there has been no official unveiling. This could simply have been delayed due to the club’s pre-season tour.

United’s players are due back at training today (26/7) and Eriksen could be involved, along with fellow new boy Lisandro Martinez.

Ahead of the midfielder potentially showing up at Carrington, we have taken a look at what three of Manchester United’s greatest ever players have had to say about him.

Scholes, Neville and Giggs all raved about Eriksen

Along with Sir Bobby Charlton and William Foulkes, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs make up Manchester United’s top five appearance makers of all time.

The Treble winning stalwarts have all praised Eriksen at various points during the last few seasons. Giggs did so from the perspective of a manager, after his Wales side came unstuck against Denmark.

Giggs told Sky Sports in 2018 “He’s a fantastic player and was the difference in Aarhus.  It’s one thing setting out a plan to stop him, it’s another actually doing it.

“He’s up there as one of the top Premier League performers, and he’s done it for a consistent amount in both scoring and making goals.”

Scholes said in 2019, quoted by The Sun that he was disappointed Manchester United did not sign the Dane at the time, after being linked.

He said: “I was quite excited when Christian Eriksen got mentioned. He could have made a big difference to United in the way [Kevin] De Bruyne plays for City, creating chances and scoring goals.”

Scholes’ comments came before United signed Bruno Fernandes months later. Now the Dane could have to split the creative role and play a supporting act to the Portuguese star, but could have a big impact nonetheless.

Gary Neville told The Overlap just earlier this year that he believed Eriksen to be good enough to play for any team in the country.

He said: “I tell you what, if you were any top-six club that were looking at a midfield three and you wanted a player to go in there and play 30 games for you in a squad-type [situation], you’d [take him].

“He could play for Manchester City, he could play for Liverpool, he could play for any of the top six.”

Manchester United took Neville’s advice, and now hope to reap the rewards of the born-again Dane looking to make the most of his new start.
