The duo were asked whether or not they believed the Premier League players deserved to be in the ‘world-class’ bracket, with Mbeumo named among them.
United legend Rooney was the first to break his silence when Mbeumo’s name popped up and he shook his head before simply saying “no” to the question.
Rooney’s feelings around Mbeumo were met with the same response by former England boss Allardyce, who also dropped a straightforward “no” on the player.

Rooney, who is regarded as one of the best strikers of all time, had no hesitation in putting United midfielder Bruno Fernandes in the world-class bracket in football.
Allardyce once again followed Rooney’s lead and the 71-year-old former West Ham manager agreed that Fernandes deserved to be seen as a world-class player.
Fernandes has netted six times and registered 13 assists in 25 matches across all competitions for Man Utd in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
